Geocities-izer: Give (almost) any webpage a 90’s makeover…

Geocities-izer “Makes any webpage look like it was made by a 13 year-old in 1996”

geocities-izer

The Geocities-izer was the find of a lifetime for me. For years I’ve wanted my website to have a ‘view 90’s version’ button for no other reason than a mild laugh. This wasn’t possible because A) I didn’t know how to make one and wasn’t going to fork out for it and B) I needed my site to be professional, so I couldn’t have even subtle gags like that on it. The Geocities-izer solves ‘A’ for me and my return to college solves ‘B’.

The app was created by Mike Lacher, a talented writer and developer who also wrote this awesome piece. In fact, there’s a lot of really cool stuff on his website, and I’m not just saying that – I’m actually scrolling through his site and alongside the Geocities-izer he’s made:

  • Steam Powered Youtube
  • The World’s Most Exclusive Website
  • Who’s Pooping on Twitter?
  • Film School Thesis Statement Generator
  • Forgot Your Password? The Game

What’s the verdict?

The app makes pages more over-the-top 90’s than I ever would have dreamed. It’s perfect.

Oh and Mike? You’re a genius.
