How ‘Happenings’ Made Dublin Summer’s Happen

In 2009 a small band of creative people with a love for Dublin came together with a mission and a dream. The dream? To create informal, fun, sober events in the many varied public spaces around Dublin. The mission? To make it happen!

And ‘Happenings’ was born – many a different activity is offered including Outdoor Yoga in Dartmouth Sq and live music in Fitzwilliam Square all of which never cost more then a fiver!

Happenings2

The event that has truly achieved the mission of ‘Happenings’ is their Open-Air Cinema. Denizens of Dublin are encouraged to come to chilled out and scenic venues such as ‘Merrion Square’ and ‘The Royal Hospital Kilmainham’, where they can enjoy some truly classic flicks that are always better with a crowd ; such as The Princess Bride, E.T, Labyrinth and Back To The Future. For €5 you get a night beneath the stars, chill vibes and the chance to experience the collective joy that Irish Summer has (belatedly) arrived and a film! The Happenings ‘no alcohol’ policy proves to be sound wisdom when you are stretched out on a picnic blanket, enjoying an outdoor movie without a drunken row kicking off, or several inebriated geniuses  deciding to forgo the port-a-loo and pee two feet from you..

Some very impressive food trucks are always on site and some top notch burgers add to the relaxed Bar-B-Q feel of events! If you fancy checking out their awesome movie nights ; you can find out what’s coming up on www.happenings.ie, Here’s to Summer!
