After five films it would seem that the people of the future are just as thick as the people of the present. Five films down whereby machines from the future are sent back to kill either Sarah Connor or John Connor, the leader of the resistance, and evidently………..failed five times. Now, lets be truthful here, the first two movies were great. The storylines were bloody bonkers, the special effects were genuinely amazing and it gave us one of the most listened to theme tunes of all time. The problem is the audience has had enough of the ‘in order to save the future we have to protect the present’ bollocks. Enough of sending the latest hi-tech killer back; it clearly doesn’t work. Face up to the fact that what we want to see is an all out war between humans and Arnies. Surely, it was obviously the next logical step for Terminator three. Why does Hollywood remake films of the past and try to deceive us by insisting it’s a new chapter?
Terminator Genisys, for the most part, sees the return of overweight Austrian shit basket Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role of the Terminator and doing exactly what he’s done for the past four films; getting bet asunder up and down Los Angeles. Yet, we are somehow meant to applaud CGI when an older version of the T-800 fights the T 1 version of himself. Eh no! Hence why Cameron created the T-1000. If we wanted to see Arnie kick the shit out of himself we would have followed more closely his career as Californian Governor. So, a funny skit of two Arnies fighting is now the main attraction. We then have to appease the writers failed imaginings of how, due to Schwarzenegger collecting his pension, a Terminators skin somehow ages along with his hair turning grey. Inexplicably, the dialogue that added to the appeal of the first two movies is churned out here into embarrassing twoddle. It is not a relevant next chapter. They are simply rehashing the ideas of the first two movies in order to shag the shit out of the box office by way of nostalgia. Oh, and John Connor is the bad guy. That is not a spoiler by the way because the dingbats that be put it into the trailer thereby ruining the plot of their own film. The revelation of John Connor came as a welcome sub-plot at first but now that the story has spiraled so far down the shit-pipe, I now frankly couldn’t give a toss. Hopefully they will do the right thing and leave this franchise alone so we can remember the first two fondly and the rest with disdain. I should point out I haven’t actually seen the film due to enjoying the better things in life and it looking like an over-hyped magnificent pile of pish.
