Theresa May, A Historical Artefact or Future Wonder of the World?

Thersea May

Theresa May has been a headliner for past 6 months, grabbing the world’s attention at every turn, performing adequately for her fans, laughing at her haters as she finishes performances, basking in her audience, as they applaud her of her stage. She has become a new English treasure. Although the opening piece would suggest that Theresa May is a Las Vegas showgirl, unfortunately this is not the case! The idea couldn’t be further from the truth! She is the new Prime-Minister of England, The new Iron Lady. The first of her sex to hold the highest political position since the predecessor of her Iron Lady title. A woman who displays elegance, intelligence, humour and whit. She took a dismantled government with no vision, prospects or taught of what the future would hold, did she steer from the challenge that would become her? No, did she engage in the political conflict regrading BREXIT? No. Throughout her whole campaign for the beloved No.10 Downing Street she exercised all her fine qualities with excellence and precision without a single slip.

The key to Theresa May success is her ability to remain composed and intelligent in any scenario that is hurdled her way. She made a cabinet of BREXITer’s, giving top ministry positions to the people who had campaigned for the mess where her beloved England, now finds itself. I still personally do not understand the appointment of Andy Pipkin as the Sectary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. But sure listen, I’ll just make an educated guess he must have been her favourite character from Little Britain.

Now! To answer the main question that is floating around the world at present, will Theresa May succeed? Will her beloved England succeed? The key reason for the people of England voting to remove themselves from the largest economic union, the right to travel and trade freely with 27 neighbouring countries is that they do not wish for foreign nationals to be permitted access to their beloved country. I know The Irony! Not only a couple of hundred years ago, did the English sacrifice multiple counts of their own men so that they could control these countries. Still! To this day! The commonwealth lives on, leaving scars in bloodlines all because a king or queen wanted to rule the world. I am left understanding now how George R.R. Martin was able to develop the remarkable A Song of Ice and Fire book series. We live in a world where an idea of one person can be so destructive. We all talk and learn about how heinous the crimes Germany committed were, but what they were doing was copying a practice that England had exercised for hundreds of years. World Conquer! Why we are critical of Germany, Is there a difference? The idea of world concur is still a topic in this day and age. ISIL is the new entity that wishes to rule the world, through terrorism they have been conquering parts of the middle-east for many years now.

Back to the matter in hand, Mrs May recently did a speech to the British Empire, where she set out her 12 point plan to divorce her county from the European Union, one main point from her speech that helped Mrs May to get her headliner status was, that a single market was off the table due to the requirement from the European Union, that free movement was a key factor on their side. I feel this is a key area where Mrs May did not show her fine qualities. For her to remove such a vital factor that could lead her country success once they set out on this new path they have chosen, before negotiations have even started, a heinous crime in itself one might say, considering that 48% of the population voted to keep their passport to 27 neighbouring countries not to mention the scrambling of citizens trying to get dual citizenship. Releasing such a broad stance has sent sectors that drive her economy, into turmoil. The main point that Mrs May seems to have missed while she is making these tough decisions, is that England as an entity own its own, does not hold the benefit of the European Union. We can look at the financial sector as an example, Europe has roughly about 27 major stock exchanges (one per country). Although London is an attractive area, the benefit the big four want to see is that they can trade on those exchanges without having to pay tariffs. Although these major companies may keep their offices in London, The headquarters will be moved to European Union.

Theresa May knows this!

After her speech, Mrs May called for gathering of the top four banks to meet with her to allow them to discuss their future in the British Empire. I can’t help but wonder how Mrs May will display her fine qualities when these companies she has gathered begin to move to Amsterdam, Dublin, Paris or Berlin to continue trading freely within the European Union. These big companies are all foreign, what incentive have they got that would make them stay, when the reason they find themselves in this predicament, is that the English people choose to expel foreign from their country. The bargain chip in this exchange is Europe, the European Union to be exact! And unfortunately for Mrs May, she is bargaining with that entity. All these prompt trade deals will not take away from the fact that the people of England have allowed for this to happen. No trade deal will equate to loss of not been able to trade freely with the largest economy in the world.

A play that Mrs May, may be trying to get into line, What if she creates her own union with the common wealth in mind? However! Realistically a play like this will take years to develop and to get to a level to compete with the European Union! Nah It just doesn’t make sense. The British Empire will be left in dark while the economy of Europe will thieve. The success of the European Union is its ability to include countries in development programs, sharing knowledge, policies and methods to get a thieving economy. Poland a country that before 2004 was riddled with conflict and a communist government, is now excelling, growing year by year, an accolade it was allowed to achieve through the guidance and membership of the European Union. The European Union has its downfalls, I would be naive to think otherwise, but the main concept, benefits and vision of the European Union outweigh those downfalls. For example the European Union made judgement on Ireland’s tax affairs, Bad Call? Absolutely! But did Ireland bend the knee, No they fought back and challenged the findings. Even though the European Union made such an outrageous judgment they have the infrastructure in place to fight these findings. A real Democracy, one might say!

Now finally to give my verdict on Mrs May! I believe that Mrs May is a historical artefact that will take England back to 1950’s where its approach of “The English Way or No Way” will be its biggest downfall. I wish her luck in her divorce settlement with the European Union, but regrettably all I see in the future for Mrs May is pain, heartache, a property crash, and a recession with no Europe to bail her out.
