Clinton and Trump investigations could hamper their 2016 election campaigns.
It could just be me, but are Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump starting to resemble each other? Apart from beautiful golden locks, they have another thing in common; both are the subject of legal investigations. Trump faces civil actions filed against him over Trump University. There is a lot of speculation as to whether Clinton will face an indictment or not. Many agree she won’t, but there are enough people including a former US Attorney General that think she is guilty of breaking the law.
Private Email Server
In short, this what she did; she set up a private email server and through this she disclosed confidential information, including emails that discussed drone attacks in Pakistan. She was repeatedly warned about using her own personal emails to disclose matters that were of national importance and sensitive security-wise. It was felt that these emails would be easier to hack into than those sent through the proper information channels.
She admits that this was wrong to do. Many believe she is guilty of breaking proper protocol and best practices regarding the emails but not guilty of breaking any law. If Edward Snowden is wanted by the American authorities for leaking sensitive information logic would suggest the same should apply to Clinton. There is a huge difference between the two in that Snowden wilfully gave out the information and Clinton didn’t, but if we are going to view such things with consistency then Clinton’s emails also posed a threat to national security.
Other Controversies
She really is up to her tits in it. Actually, it’s difficult to know where to start. First of all, her record as Secretary of State is hardly flawless. On September 11th, 2012 the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya was attacked, resulting in the deaths of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. Hillary was widely criticised for her role in this by a subsequent report on the incident and parts of the media thereafter. She accepted responsibility, but also said she was not directly responsible for any events in the lead up to the incident. This is not strictly true.
This falls in under the email controversy too, because, according to some media outlets in the States, Stevens emailed her informing her the situation in Benghazi was becoming untenable and requested more troops to the region. Apparently she deleted this email without responding first. A mistake is one thing but this seems to be a cover-up. There does seem to be a nasty undercurrent following Clinton’s career.
RT interviewed Kris Paronto, who was in action that night. He is quoted as saying; “First of all, those seven investigations she was talking about at the time… One had only interviewed the team that was on the ground. And there has only been one committee that actually interviewed everybody that was on the ground and that’s the Benghazi select committee run by Trey Gowdy.
“So, honestly, that’s a false narrative she’s trying to push that things were done and nothing wrong was found. Well, of course, nothing wrong was found because the investigations weren’t complete. Also whether there, mistakes were made or whether there were failures or not they fall on the highest level of the chain of command and that is the State Department and that was her. Whether she knew about it or not, that makes no difference to me. Your success of failure falls on the highest chain of command and if the first subordinates didn’t tell her what was going on, well, then they weren’t trained correctly and that makes her to me unqualified to be president of the United States.”
That’s a pretty damning comment, Kris is one of the few people in the media spotlight that I’ve heard that actually has had to deal with the consequences of her indifference. In relation to the emails he had this to say; “Isn’t it proof right there? You’ve got the emails. A lot of those emails have been scrubbed but you still have found some emails. You’ve got the family members saying that they were lied to.” He continued on with this point of the family members of those involved being lied to by Clinton with Glen Doherty’s sister Kate Quigley being particularly vocal on the issue.
Funding
This campaign has also brought up other serious issues that would make a normal person question if she is presidential material. Chiefly, there is the funding. It will be difficult for her to make any meaningful legislation related to climate change when the fossil fuel industry has given her campaign $6.9 million according to Greenpeace. The big banks also made huge contributions, no surprise there, and the major media conglomerates as well. This may go some way to explaining the media’s coverage of Bernie Sanders in my last article.
Then there is her Victory Fund. She set up this fund to help the Democratic National Convention and the Democratic committees in over 30 states. According to Politico.com, she has raised $60 million but those committees have only seen 1% of that. Is she just lying to get money? It wouldn’t be out of the question given the rest of the evidence we have looked at. They are other unsavoury aspects of her personality that have come up in the past that are too numerous to mention in one article.
The University of Hard Knocks?
It certainly was that for some people. People all over America have tried to bring lawsuits against Trump for basically lying to them about his university. He said he could turn anybody into a real estate mogul through his courses. The problem was a number of people paid their fees and never got to take part in the course. Most of the thousands of people who took part gave positive feedback, but it has been claimed that a number of these people were told to do so or else their certifications would be withheld.
Trump being Trump, that wasn’t enough controversy. He called into question the objectivity of the judge based on racial grounds. He repeatedly did so in the media, but his own lawyers will not be asking for the judge to step down.
This has been a hallmark of the Clintons and Trump throughout their careers. They lie and cheat and then slander anybody that then calls them out on this. I can only imagine what type of America and by extension what type of world we will have when one of these comes into power. Both are self-obsessed and got into political life only to serve their own selfish needs. Then both have continuously sought to destroy the reputations of those that have stood in their way. Is this best America can produce? If so, God bless America.
